What about Fleet Attack Formations?

Once a fleet is formed, can you choose a vanguard formation, etc?
Do ships gain exp. also? Elite, etc. And are there only so many components available when constructing one ship?
regards,
Joe

All the ships in a fleet operate together, they coordinate attacks on targets according to their individual battle tactics.

No ship experience - but you can retrofit them to use newer tech.
Ship designs are mainly limited by your current maximum construction size. As your construction tech increases you can build bigger ships and bases. All components have a size - the total size of all the components in a ship design is the size of the ship itself.

Sorry if I missed this somewhere, but I was wondering if anyone knows: do ships in a fleet "stack" under one icon, or are they all seen spread out on the screen (I'm guessing from the context of this discussion that they do not stack.). I saw something on one of the videos about fleets and a ship with a star beside it. I was wondering if that was a stacked set of ships or maybe the fleet flagship. Just wondering...

There's no concept of stacking because movement is freeform - there's no grid squares, etc.
Each ship in a fleet maneuvers according to their individual attack targets using tactics that you can set.
The lead ship for the fleet is displayed with a silver star next to it. You can double-click any ship in the fleet to select the entire fleet and then assign missions to the fleet.

No stacking.
Ok.
This that mean that ships can ram each other?

I think the 'collected information' had listed that ships pass over/under each other automatically. Which would mean no ramming, unless there's some specific command to perform such
I hope we can board enemy vessels! Hijack their newest battleship and take it apart for new tech <3

Yes, you can name fleets whatever you like. Same with ships, bases and colonies.
