ok ok... boy all I do is ask questions..
[&:]

this question is ....
I have just started a Guadalcanal game as the Allies
On turn one I only recieved the saved file 005 game slot... and did not recieve the 001.pws file..
(so I could not see any replay) but played my turn anyhow.
However, and here is where I am confused my opponent... says he cant see the replay either

If he sends me the 001.pws file and we start all over (its just turn 1)
will this resolve the issues...
I would rather see the replay first... then see the combat report...
My thanks.. (again)

Al

Welcome to the perfect place to ask questions ;). Just don't expect there's an answer out there - and sometimes there are just too many answers, either due to number of opinions or possibilities...

Anyway, the next question goes to you and it is: What settings are you using ? The valid settings are set by the Japan player, but you can see what has been set if you click on the second button from the left in the top line of the screen when you have opened the turn (i.e. you see the game map), take a screenshot and post it here. That should help identifying the problem.

On your initial turn of a pbem game with a historical first turn, the only thing that happens is to choose your password. Each turn thereafter, will be a 'real' turn. The Jap player must send the combat replay. Refer to 20.5.4 in the manual (page 307). See also page 31. Those notes should help.
