Hi guys,

Well, slowly getting the hang of this game and although it has its weak points, overall it is very challenging ... for those who are trying to complete the Caen scenario, i have had limited success in doing the following:
1. Keep start city well stocked with armour and men
2. Next, bombard and bomb the airfield to the north then parachute men in ... once captured instantly get tanks and howitzers to protect ... this should take care of itself in defense
3.Do the same raid on the factory to the right .. use the additional troops that come under your control to capture it ...

I had 3 cities in 'normal' conditions but then the great counterattack came and I was sunk!!

next time i will do the first 2 steps then capture the city at the top right .. it seems form there a swarm of tiger tanks comes rushing down and blows everything away!!!

Anyone got any other great ideas to win this one?

Cheers

Doug

Doug, great history this game is not, but fun I think it is. My tips are, use recon, use artillery, concentrate your forces and NEVER try to rush. Might add play on 'easy' first time round to. I have not finished the game yet but have fought my way through some tough scenarios I previously thorght unwinnable

Ah thanks for that!

How exactly do you use recon? I agree with you ... NEVER rush or you are doomed!

Thanks Alan

I use recon to 'find the enemy' and 'blunder into minefields' rather than waste precious tanks.

Well!!  I finished the Caen mission after quite a few saves and attempts (on normal setting) and discovered the way to do things ... and as you say Alan, use recon to find out when the Germans are etc ... so now I guard my cities well and create a horde of armour and soldier to wipe out little settlements as i go... dropping airborne in as necessary .... can be quite a challenge trying to get it right!

Have found too, the value of the Howitzer ... great for long range bombardment!

Now onto the next map and doing well ... will keep you posted!

Cheers

I think going too quickly has been my problem.  I'm going to restart on easy and see if that helps a bit.  I'm also having trouble keeping some of my convoys alive.  The Germans seem to be able to sneak troops into areas I think are safe.  I guess I need to place recon units around to catch them before they blindside me.

Good Luck, you seem to be on the right track but the scenarios get harder after a while.........believe me. Just when you think you are getting the hang of it.......POW!
