Fuel spoilage

In manual it says that combined AF/Port value needs to be 10 or more to avoid spoilage.
Are those values original or expanded values? My fuel at Noumea seems to disappear quickly
and it is build to 7/6, original values being 5/4. Thanks for your advice

It is based on actual size of the base, expanded.

Forgive me for asking a really STUPID question , but how does fuel spoil? Does it turn rancid? Does its expiration date make it unusable? Fuel can be contaiminated (like with water) , but can usually be filterd, strained or treated. But spoil? [&:]

Evaoporate? Get contaminated? Leak because the little base can't store all those 55 gallon drums without them rusting their bottoms out?

In answer to the original question, fuel can "leak" over a road net to other friendly bases. And if those other bases are small they can have evaporative loss or whatever you want to call it.

Currently it is a combined size 9+ for no spoil limit. If you look on the base screen you'll see supply and fuel limit if size is less than 9.

Think of it as an overstocking penalty.

While somewhat linear in its application, in reality there is spoilage in even the most efficient manufacturing and retailing envirnoment, including fuels. I actually see a firm justification to put it in all places where supply is aggregated in addition to the 'true; overstocking penalties that exist today. Think of the existing rule as spoilage for not having the capcity to perform proper storage of said items. From obselescence to damage to theft to spoilage - it happens. While not super-well read on this subject, I have seen quotes from military sources that supply slippage / spoilage was never less than 20% in the Eurpoean theater (exclusive of losses in transit). In may cases, it was 50%, primarily due to theft and profiteering. The american solution was to over-produce everything rather than micro-manage each particular element. I assume it was even worse in the harse envirnments of the Pacific theater.

Think of it as one more reason to build large bases as hubs and be thankful we as players dont have to worry about a more complex supply spoilage method.
