Wrap It Up, I'll Take It!

Having read about all the new features you are developing for Storm Over The Pacific.

I would like to let you know that if they can be made to work for ToW as an expansion pack or add-on.

That would be something I would be willing to pay for.

I have to agree with that

Why mess around with a remake? Just take the feedback from SoP, apply the improvements and add the best things from ToW and make the global version with scenarios of isolated theaters for those of us that don't wish to tackle the big campaign.

Instead of WW2, add some variants into "what if" possibilities and call it "Earth War II".[8D]

Since you find it tempting, I will have to infer that it is possible. That's good!

You agree that it is tempting or that you would buy it?

Not the rousing response I was hoping for, I would have preferred hundreds if not thousands of "great idea" "me too" "where do I sign up".

Anyway since WI is developing "Bitter Glory" for the global scale I doubt they would want to compete with themselves.

What I'm looking for from them is something that I feel will vastly improve ToW without causing them a lot more work.

I believe its been inferred that BG will be a detailed grognard's game that will take a lifetime to play(can you say WitP). On the other hand a global version of SoP+ToW would be more of the "beer and pretzels" variety although I must say I prefer margaritas with chips and salsa.[;)]

Grognard is French for "grumbler". It is not necessarily pejorative and is sometimes used as a compliment.

Historically it meant a soldier in Napoleon's army, particularly a member of the Old Guard.

"Grognard" came to mean a veteran wargamer in the early 1970s.

It was first used by John Young, at that time an employee of SPI, and subsequently popularised by Strategy & Tactics magazine.

I'm wondering are grognards allowed to consume beer & pretzels?

Also if you combine 2 beer & pretzel games wouldn't the correct formula be:

(beer + pretzels)(beer + pretzels)= X - grognard

Where X is 42 (Hitchiker's Guide)

Sorry, I agree that I would buy it if it was an add on or something along those lines.

I would rather say Bitter Glory is "an ultimate ww2 sim";)

I hope you're not setting the bar too high. I am looking forward to it though.

As for my proposed expansion, two willing customers is hardly a groundswell of support.

AH4Ever, have you ever heard about "silent majority" ? [;)]

Well I would support an expansion of ToW with SoP features - especially an expanded ToW with SoP Naval game for example.... [:)]

But on the other hand I am also waiting in great anticipation for Bitter Glory [:D] and if such an expansion would delay the release of Bitter Glory....well....I'm torn on the issue then....

But WI have my full support in any case - what I've seen so far come outfrom them is fantastic. Yeah we may have a few kinks here and there which need to be worked out - but which programme system doesn't?

I for one would also purchase such an expansion. Many of the SoP features sound great, but I just like the European theatre more...

I would pay for it too. A very exciting possibility. Especially combined with the editors. It would be a dynamite combination.

I'm not going to dive in, AH4Ever, without testing the (Pacific) waters first.
Let me finish with ToW, THEN explore SOtP, THEN make up my mind about my answer to your question.

May take a while, though, as I'm still happily playing several of the TotalWar series (some with mods) [:D] and Space Empires IV.[X(]

So the answer is - "I'll get back to you on that".[8D]

I been told that Australia is somewhat close to the Pacific, so testing the water should be no problem. Just watch out for those things in the ocean that like to bite.

Parts of it. Other parts are rather closer to the Coral Sea and the Indian Ocean - but I get your drift (so to speak!)
....those things in the ocean that like to bite.
I know what you mean, I was married once. Once is enough.

There's a good reason that the sharks stay in the sea - they're scared of the snakes! That's why we all drive too.

I AM actually looking forward to SotP - couldn't be bothered finishing the first week's turn in WitP - too much input for too litle output for my taste. Anyway -

An updated re-release of TOW might make a few sales, but I'd say a Wastelands Mega Pack option with Storm Over the Pacific and an updated TOW (in the same package) might sell better.

I'd think it could improve sales of the new release too, being mutually beneficial. Besides owners of TOW being less stingy about paying a few extra dollars along with SotP to get the new ToW.

I'd still prefer a normal exp pack to a release of ToW. To be honest I do not like re-releases, making you pay twice for something... not to mention that ToW is in fact a re-release of RtV

But the fact is that if you bought RTV you get TOW for free.
So I think that the deal was a good bargain?
