Impulse Update Question

I was excited to install the 1.024 patch, but nothing appears available on the impulse website. I downloaded through the forum here, but my key will not allow the installation to progress.

Are impulse-distributed keys incompatible with the standalone installer? Did my installation of the beta patch foul the situation somehow? Is impulse just slow in getting patches up on the web?

Let me know! [8D]

As far as I know Matrix have nothing to do with the Impulse distribution; they are different publishers of the same developer's game (not uncommon with online sales, these days). Patches aren't usually compatible, and Impulse has it's own update system as you are already aware. The Impulse version of the patch will probably be along in a day or so, try asking at Stardock.

Because Impulse uses a client for patching/updating, you have to wait until they get their version of the patch up. And they usually don't provide Beta patches, so you're probably out of luck until it becomes official.

OK, here's a variation on the Impulse question:
I bought Armada 2526 via Impulse.
I downloaded the 1.024 patch from Matrixgames, and when the installer asks for the serial number, I paste the s/n copied from Impulse - only to get an Invalid Serial Number message.
Is this because games sold through Impulse have a different serial number sequence to those sold from the Matrixgames site? And this adds value how, exactly?

The release through Impulse was completely separate from us - that was through a direct resale arrangement with Ntronium. We are the primary publisher for online and retail, but it is also re-sold through Impulse and Gamersgate. Impulse built their own installer and changed the file structure a bit as well as doing their own serial numbers. Thus, they will have to provide their own update installer.

Thanks Erik. While I was sleeping, Impulse posted their version of the update. Live and learn...

I've used Impulse for several games, but I bought a copy of Armada 2526 in the store.  How do I get Impulse to recognize that I have 2526 installed?

You would have to buy it from Impulse. It's rare to be able to register a store bought game with a digital distributor.

Actually, Impulse has done it before for several games I've bought store copies of.  I'm just not sure how to make it recognize I have Armada 2526.  Maybe I should be asking on their forum instead!
