maybe im worong but hasnt this game bin "maturing" since september?

and that matters why? games have been maturing for much much longer than a few months, hurrying a game has NEVER been good for players, I'm sure a few EA development studios could attest to that on occasion...

The release date given was one they were aiming for, for all we know it might not come out early or late this month (while I hope it does!) but it will be out when they believe it's ready.

so get some ice, make a drink, and chill! It's soon(tm)

Good point, Wade. This was stated by Erik himself, by the way, so everyone should heed these words.

Given that there is still artwork left to do, and that Matrix isn't usually one to rush games out the door, my guess is Distant Worlds won't be released until at least the second week of next month (March 8-12). Patience folks; good things come to those who wait. [8D]

Erik has personally put me in charge of throwing the switch, but I have decided to wait because I don't see enough enthusiasm for the game on this forum... [:D]

BTW, that is a lie and a joke. I know the testers are doing are best to make the release day experience a great one of you all. I'm tempted to put together a short pictorial AAR that can be "leaked" by Erik or Elliot, once they wish. It will be about starting a game, options, and the general philosophy behind the game development (or at least as far a I, as a tested, understood it).

And there will be free pie and punch*

Hi guys,

I think it will all come down to when the final pieces come in (we're waiting on some of the race art and one video). We're taking it day by day here and don't have a better estimate. If we don't have everything else we are waiting for by early Wednesday, then it will release next week due to the additional time required for the absolutely final QA steps. I'll keep you posted.
