I would very much like to buy this game How ever i am concern it may contain internet activations. So does the download version and the disc version have internet activations. If it does i will not purchased the game.

I assume it will follow the standard Matrix formula - serial number needed to install.  You own the download file, can back it up to a CD/DVD/whatever.  No internet connection required to play.

I am more than happy to support a company that doesn't use DRM. I will be buying distant worlds and Officers instead of AC2 and SH5 by Ubisoft who haven't learn the lessons from EA.

For those of you who don't know. UBI DRM has gone too far and now when you want to play a single game it has to be done online and all games are saved online. EA hasn't even gone this far though they did try. And ironically EA has dropped all DRM activations on new games. EA learn the hard way and my guess is that UBI will learn the hard way too.

It sure does. From now on i will be supporting companies that don't use DRM for activations online. UBI stupidly can only benefit companies like Matrix.

Here, here! I think Ubisoft are cutting their own throats. I was going to buy SH5 but not now. May get it for £5 in the bargain bin one day.

But even if you did find it in the bargain bin somewhere down the road, it'll still have the DRM on it.... Best thing is to just say "no" and do not buy DRM infested products whether full price or bargain price.

True, but I won't mind spending £5 to see if it's OK to play. However, I do see your point. Why should we support DRM of this kind whatever the cost.

As i said before. Your games are sold. There are 2 games i want Officers and Distant Worlds. I am currently trying to get a retailer in Australia to get Officers. Thank you for your response.

What is really bad about UBI is that the CEO doesn't care about the customers. Can you imagine if Matrix tried something like this.

Well, part of the problem is people relent and buy the products with the DRM anyway, even after much bluster about not buying. I have gotten so I don't even bother looking around much anymore. I just stick with Matrix and Stardock and a couple other indies and skip the DRM ones. I remember hating the silly "what's the word on page 17, paragraph 4, 3rd word" type from long agon...or the wheels like the old D&D games used to have... My kids would always misplace them... [:)]

I am not so sure with UBI though. The DRM is pretty drastic. I am sure they have lost some major sales because of it. Apparently Splinter cell conviction will have this as well. They just never learn.

And the games have been already hacked. So what will happen now is you will get the people who will buy the game and then download the hack to get rid of the DRM. This was the same with Spore the most pirated game in history by its owners.

Wozza - I'd probably do the same. You get enough malware on your comp EVEN without those ridiculous DRMs
