Does an air recon of a factory, if successful, show the allied player what is being made at what factory?

I would assume so as the planes were frequently moved outside of the building/factory for inspection and transport.

No, it doesn't. Same as Airfields.

I suspect it is due to the fact that factories are linked to Research as well as production. If you knew what was going on at each factory you could basically shut down all research.

Well if the recon-planes can take pictures of the airfields said pictures would invariably show what types of planes are on the ground.  The allies had some pretty advanced photo-analysis techniques for 1943-1945 and they could easily distinguish between how many twin-engine planes were on a field vs. single-engine planes were there.
