Breaking down large Allied Squadrons

I notice in the med, the 12th AF has their fighter squadrons broken down in to nice 16 plane groups, while the formations flying out of England have these huge 48 plane squadrons.
It would be nice to be able to break them down, like the Mossies can do in their intruder raids.
Can this be done?

The squadrons go to the 15th AF in early November.
The 15th was not escorted with such huge numbers as the 8th.

That is correct, fighter squadrons are usually composed of 16 aircraft.
What you are seeing in the VIII Fighter Command are the GROUPS (composed of three squadrons) instead of individual SQUADRONS, hence 48 aircraft (3 Squadrons of 16 aircraft to compose one Group of 48 aircraft)
