the only thing it does is take one factory from CW and giving it to USA.

remember that Belfast is already a primary supply source of the USA

I don´t see any point in having this option in the game

44.US occupies Northern Ireland - You can declare control of Northern Ireland during any future Allied declaration of war step that the Commonwealth controls every hex in Northern Ireland and provided the Commonwealth agrees. Northern Ireland becomes US controlled. Move any other Allied units there to the nearest hex their major power controls. From now on, the US may use the Belfast factory and Belfast becomes a primary supply source for the US.

Well one thing that pops into my mind is that if Britian is about to fall to Operation SeaLion, this options saves (at least temporarily) the factory for US use until it enters the war.

Likewise, having a primary supply source for the US in Northern Ireland can be very helpful when retaking Great Britain.

you can use the option to send US troops to UK.  while USA is neutral

Anyway, even when the UK is not undergoing invasion does it not help being able to build in NI thus saving transport journeys across the Atlantic?

N. Ireland just become US controlled, not part of US home country. The only unit that would arrive as reinforcement in North Ireland for US would be the Northern Ireland TERR.

ACMW... that is a fact only reluctantly accepted (if even that) by Scotsmen. [;)]

It also becomes a primary supply point for the US.  It means that the Axis will have a difficult time come US entry into the European war, even if Sealion was otherwise successful.  By extension, it means a landing in Northern Ireland should be considered by the Axis as part of Sealion.

Well option 44 requires.. a US entry level of 44, this is quite high, at this point the U.S. maybe already at war with at least one major power, very probably. If so U.S. is active and can already send troops even in Great Britain itself following the Foreign troops commitment.

You can use it to teleport units. For example, you can teleport free french units onto a beachhead in france or into a beleaguered north africa, *without* the use of transports (a beachhead/North Africa could eaily be the closest FF controlled hex). The perfect way to save a Marocco foothold !!
