Questions about map codeing

Hello All.
I was thinking of making a new map for WIR based on Lat./Long.
Preliminary trials seem to indicate that it will work fine. altought the hexes will end up being approx. 60 miles E-W on the south part of the map , and the northernmost hexes will be about 40 miles E-W.
But the thought occurs to me that there may be problems with wholsale relocations of various cities.
I'm aware of certain hexes on the eastern edge are considered connected by rail to off map. But what I got to wondering about is the naval supplied cities. Are they coded to the map location, or to the City ID number? And what about the special supply for Leningrad, is that coded to a particular hex?
Also are Berlin/Rome/Vienna/Budapest/Bucharest/Helsinki required to be in a particular hex?

Does anyone know anything about how the map interacts with the executable?

Not sure of the details, but some stuff is hard coded in the executable. Arnaud always told the map guys to check with him before moving any cities so that he could scan the code and determine what must be changed to go with it.

Oh well , into the recycle bin with this map then...
I thought it would be unworkable to start re-locating major cities
Thanks for replying RickyB

Possum,

No problem at all. I wish it was easier to work with, but if Arnaud has to dig through the code just to find the hard coded stuff, I guess it isn't easy to even adjust the code. You have done great work with your other stuff - I wish you could go this easily too.
