Was just about to buy through the UK part of the online store but have got a question about the Sterling price.

Distant Worlds is $39.99 / $49.99 and £26.99 / £32.99 whereas (for example) Armada 2526 is $39.99 / $49.99 and £24.99 / £30.99.

Why is the exchange rate different for Distant Worlds ???

Because since Armada launched, the exchange rate changed. We update the exchange rate for all games periodically (usually once per quarter) but whenever a new game is released, the price is set based on the current exchange rates.

Fair enough, the conversion does tally with the current exchange rate.
