So far, I'm enjoying the whole Stave vs Private aspect of the game. I am a bit confused when it comes to ship construction though. It says Private can buy them, how does that work? Does the construction yard automatically make them, even if it is not set to auto? Do I have to manually build them and they magically turn private?

The private sector also pays the state money to build the ships at your shipyards. As far as I can tell, though, the private sector ships do need resources to build too!

On that note, is the money that the private sector gives to the state for building private ships dependent on the resource cost as well (as opposed to, say, a fixed amount for just renting out the construction yards)? If so, it'd be interesting to see ways for the state to manipulate resources to better gain from the private sector's ship building needs!

Select the ship and in the Selection Panel at bottom-left there's some text in brackets that says either "(STATE)" or "(PRIVATE)"
