Can anyone help me out with Fleets? I am wondering what happens with them. More specifcally if I assign ships to a fleet that are scattered about my colonies, how do I get them to marshall together in a single site?

If you select the fleet, which you can do by clicking on its icon when zoomed out or by using the next/previous fleet buttons, you can right click anywhere in the galaxy to tell it to move there or refuel at the nearest space port, etc. Any of those commands will get the ships from the fleet to meet up in that location if they start out dispersed. Another tip is to use the Control-Number combination when you have a fleet selected, that puts all the ships into a numbered group for quick recall. So if you use Control-1, you can later just hit the 1 key to call up that fleet.
