After wiping out one Pirate base, I got a message that the other was joining my Empire. Yet I saw no difference - no additional ships, colonies, - in short nada.

Did I miss something?

Mhhh, in every of my game, I got some new ships and often a starbase lost somewhere (usually some systems away from their HQ). Maybe you wiped them out entirely and thus didn't get anything, but still got the message ?

Or, did you try checking the ships/bases list and look for new frigates/escorts/bases ?

No, this wasn't the faction I was attacking. It was nother one.

Yeah, I had to go looking for the pirate base. You should have a warship or two flying in from a random vector, check out that a way. Or look for a base with a piratey name in your list.

In my most recent game I found data recordings after destroying a pirate base that pointed me to a neutral race planet the pirates had been trading with. It was half way across the galaxy, but it said if I sent a colony ship they'd be likely to join my empire.

I sent the ship, but when I arrived it was a very hostile race, so the colonization failed. But the planets population was the highest I’d ever seen on a neutral race. 15,000+ mil on a 31.5k planet. Less than 5 years into the game and the planet was half full, it had to be the largest neutral generated in the game.

Luckily one AI destroyer had tagged along to guard the colony ship, and it had a troop aboard, so insta conquest and it is now the largest population planet in my empire, at least twice the size of any of my big earners.

I just wish neutrals had at least some armies defending them, it felt wrong using just one troop to take it without a fight.

I totally agree.

They dont have troops?
I mean I am sure that they should have some militia units.
I remember reading something about militia units somewhere sometime ago(before game realese).

It's a good suggestion, can you please add it to the master wish list?

Did someone already do this?
