I built a huge (size 6000+) starbase in orbit of my planet, but oh no! It's so big I can't actually click on my planet anymore. I have to select it through the colony screen.

When I leftclick on the starbase, I don't get the little menu to choose which stacked unit I want to select like I would if it was a bunch of ships sitting on top of each other.

Not a game-breaker, but thought it was worth pointing out.

Such huge stations should be constructed by selecting a planet and right-clicking in any space near the planet (you can click anywhere near it not just in its boundaries or on its image). This way the station will still be built on the orbit of the planet, but it will allow you to select both items. If you are building it with a constructor the allowed boundaries will be much smaller!

I suggest you to open up editor and remove the station. After that you can add it back again where it will allow you to select the planet. Be warned though that deleting the station will also remove any and all produced (being built) units and resources stored in it.

Also be careful not to remove the planet
