counter mod with bases

hi all,
This is a mod I've been messing around with; so far everything works but as usual I can't promise I didn't do something stupid.
I think I grabbed the base counter from a jpeg on Wastelands site a while back.
anyway this is the stock 'counters 2 set' on a counter with a round base. I made the German armor black with pink tech level indicators. If you don't like the black armor just rename or delete the {Units-Germany} png from the folder and they'll revert back to the standard gray.
I like the way this set looks on Peter123's map.
once again (Agent'S') 's excellent ship and air work is included. thanks!

Every time I settle down with a favorite look you (plural, all of you graphic designers) come up with a new look. These are beautiful, and make me think of Stratego a bit. Some of you might remember a system SPI had where units were double sided where one side was very generic, and the other side had all unit details. These counters would be great for that. Imagine seeing a wall of generic red tiles, with only combat or recon revealing the true strength of the unit.

I am in the same boat as cpdeyoung. I find a set of icons I really like, get comfortable with and someone comes up with something even better. I have never had so many great choices. Hurry and finish this one, really can't wait.

thanks all!
parusski -the link in the first post is pretty much it; the only changes will be error corrections. so enjoy!
Much of the credit with these mods has to go to 'Wastelands'.
This game is so easy to mod that a '150k unit file' can change so much. I find myself playing with one 'unit set' then switch for a couple of turns, then back to the other set.
The "how to" posts by Bleck early on show how the 'unit graphics' work and I have never seen this type of support or encouragement from a company. This they got right!

chuck,
I seem to remember an East front game with actual wooden blocks (pretty big too!) red and black.I wonder if thats the same game you mentioned. It's still buried in the closet somewhere. (just in case there's a nuclear pulse or something else that knocks out computers).

Thanks jack, I missed the link. I just turned 44 a few days ago, so my eyesight must be going....

Jack, I was thinking of PanzerGruppe Guderian by SPI.

This was a very cool design, surely you remember it. It was only 35 years ago!

Ah jack, this is cool. After you pointed out that I missed the link I grabbed the mod. It is really cool. Been pushing those little things around the map all morning(instead of working).

Thanks for making such great unit counters. Ive started using them in my current PBEM game. As I am playing the allies is it posible to give a distinctive colour to russian, british and US tank units?

once again thanks all!
dodd1,
As far as the black armor goes it was obviously taken from the black panzer uniform; for the allies I'm not really sure which direction to go. I could try some lighter shade of the base counter; if that doesn't look good I can change the nato symbol color.
I'll see what I can come up with.
thanks, Jack

Jack have you given any further thought to make a distinctive colour for allied and italian tank units. Its great to be able to pick out the panzers so easily and as an allied player no where they are on the map.

Hi Dodd,
I tried a few different shades but was never happy enough to post them; the most recent counters I tried are shown here.
I actually like this type but the overlaying info graphics look kind of crowded, so I'm not sure where to go from here...

They look very distinctive. Let me know when they are ready to be updated and released for download.

Change info graphics and their location. You can make frames with different colors and patterns, or semitransparent colored layers to cover whole counter or (or just any corner, or whole but with gradient so it will be more visible at the edge).

Awesome counters. One thing though, can you move the names from the bottom to the top? The names kind of hide the Strength and AP numbers

Here's a (us armor and soviet armor counter set) un-zip and drop each unit png into the (armortest1 folder) available in post # 1
This is a two nation add-on to the first post download. I kind of like these but it may take me a while to add any more nations. (Ideally I'd like to do something similar with the British, French, and Italians)maybe a re-worked german.
