How useful are the Finns?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

How useful are the Finns?

Post by FM WarB »

Lets postulate that the Germans are interested in taking Leningrad in 1941. Can the Finns help or do stop lines or other restrictions prevent them from being of much use?

There is a "no attack" line a bit north of Leningrad that the Finns can't attack cross until Leningrad falls.

The line was so needed. Otherwise the game went so far out of balance...

I recall seeing them do air recon when I let the AI do the Axis missions but don't recall seeing any bombing across the line. Would have to check it when I get a chance to be sure.

The Finns can launch air attacks across the line.

Thats a good piece of information to know. I guess once/if Leningrad falls the Finnish forces are free to deploy anywhere on the map?

Kind of. There is another no-move line for the Finns that keeps them in the North. The line runs east-west roughly at the northern portion of Lake Peipus.
