remember when gamespot fired that guy for giving a bad score to a shitty game that was advertised heavily on their site?

as for why you need to create a separate login for the forums... show me where you use your forum login for buying games? it is completely standard to keep the two separate.

as for why it isn't advertised... advertising costs a lot of money.

What kinda games do you like echn111? If you like complex strategy games that are hard to master (and often hard to LEARN!), you'll probably become a Matrix fan. If not, you probably won't like their stuff.

They don't need to advertise. They don't have fat cat corporate backers breathing down there necks [:D] (You guys don't have fat cat corporate backers breathing down your necks yet do you? You didn't 'sell out' to the man yet did you?")

Matrix has more ancestral linkage to hex-map military board games than to arcade games; its not a huge market so advertising probably wouldn't necessarily serve anyway.

I have no interest whatsoever in hex-map board games, but DW is totally different.

I would even argue that DW isn't THAT difficult to learn...it's just you can't rush into it as quickly as you can with mainstream RTS games.

The automation feature, despite certain issues that are being worked on, opens DW up to a much wider audience than that of many of the other matrix games (in my opinion).

Out of curiosity, why doesn't Distant Worlds have more reviews? Seems like it's a bit under received, even in the world of niche strategy games.

Added a very positive GameSquad review of ROTS. Right before the Legends release no less!

8.5

Distant Worlds: Return of the Shakturi is a worthwhile expansion to a solid 4X strategy game. Really, there is no reason why a dedicated DW fan should pass it up.

Very nice review! He pointed out a few things I'd overlooked. Good press for a deserving game.

Sean, you might as well quote the preceding sentences too. It doesn't get much better than this.
If Master of Orion 2 was the 4X space strategy gaming reference of the nineties, then Distant Worlds Legends is the 4X space strategy gaming reference of the early XXI century. What are you waiting for? Buy it now!

Congrats to CodeForce and Matrix on another well-deserved rave review.
