Emperor of the Fading Suns

Hi all,

I was just visited by a crazy idea and thought to share it. Is there any hope that, now that Matrix has started producing sci-fi games, they revamp the old but glorious Emperor of the Fading Suns from Segasoft?

It was a hell of a game, arguably the BEST sci-fi wargame ever made, highly complex, with enormous strategic scope, detailed tactical resolution, complex diplomacy etc. :)

Alas it was spoiled - guess what - by a hasty production schedule, which had crippled meny of its most original ideas and thrown off balance many mechanisms of the game.

The small community that had arisen around this flawed classic is now dead. But IMO EFS would have the potential of being THE sci-fi wargame, if the wizards from Matrix would decide of lavishing on it even a fraction of the energies they've dedicated to War in Russia etc.

Any idea? Is this forum monitored by the Matrix folks?

Apologies for my broken English,

Lorenzo.

Sad to say I never played that game. It sounds interesting though.

Broken English? Your English is better than most of the "native" English speakers who post here.

Especially those Aussies;)

If i'm not mistaken there is a 'sequel' to Emperor of the Fading suns but its an FPS starship simulator type game and unfortunately I can't remember its name. I do think Fading Suns is in the title. I read about it in PC gamer.

Actually, the 'sequel' is called "Noble Armada", but while it is set in the same universe, it is not really a sequel... It's an entirely different game... The first was like some kind of giant multiplayer 'Civ' on steroids... The latter is a 'real-time' 3-D space ship war/ exploration game... Still, I've been waiting for NA for years! :)

It's dead? I have noticed the forums havn't been up for a week or two, but I thought this was only temporary. Considering the 200 members at the forums, and the frequent posting, if those forums die, I'm sure more will pop up ;)

(and EFS play by e-mail games still live on! Long live Devolution and Inquisition games! :D)
