Killing Pirates increase player reputation.

But what about killing space creatures?

Does killing them earns me good reputation? Shouldnt it increase my reputation?

I think it's the same concept as killing bugs. Stomping on bugs might save you some trouble and annoyance, but no one else really cares.

And what about killing giant bugs, big enough to devour spaceships, to tear them into pieces and to kill their crew ? ^^
