Oil/Fuel Questions

Can anyone explain to me the inner workings of the oil/fuel system in the game?

I am playing BTR as Allied and I am concentrating my attacks on oil refineries/synthetic fuel/oil storage and chemical. I would really like to know how fuel production and consumption is handled in the game.

I know that airfields have a fuel value, I know that this value is consumed by aircraft when they redeploy or land at an airfield. I also know that this fuel value can be decreased by damaging the airfield.

Would I be correct in assuming that fuel producing is dependent on this kind of thing:

Chemical factories + Synthetic factories = fuel
Oil storage + Oil refineries = fuel

Fuel from these two outputs = total fuel per turn

Does a portion of this total fuel then get divided up into fuel needed for the Army and Navy before it gets served up to the Luftwaffe?

Is the fuel side of the game modelled like this? Can someone explain it if so? Or not?

Will a concerted and successful bombing campaign against fuel production and storage (I mean fuel stored at airfields) create a fuel crisis for the Luftwaffe that will ultimately crippled its ability to launch aircraft?

I suspect that may be the case but I would like to know how it all works.

Also what happens to any excess fuel created? Where does that go?

Finally I am not sure if this is WAD or not but my Pathfinding radar equipped Lanc I and III are really doing a superb job of demolishing large German factories deep inside Germany and with the methods I am employing there appears little my opponent can do to stop it. I mean should the RAF BC be able to do a better job at flattening individual German factories than the 8th Airforce? I am able to smash several large German factories every 3 or 4 turns with these Pathfinders and my other city squashing night bombers don't seem to miss their assistance.

Thanks for any input.

Not sure :)

yea, that is gas/fuel that the planes use

IIRC, yes, there is Oil and Gas, and also Fuel, I thought most of the Synthetic went to the LW, and the Oil to the rest ?

Yes, if you can cripple, the OIL/Fuel side of the game, you will cripple the LW, and the Army, you HARD it enough, the LW will not be able to fly

I suspect that may be the case but I would like to know how it all works.

IIRC OilS and Ports

that should be more a streak of good die rolls, you should be missing as much as hitting, of course, weather, alt, interfearence and what not will help, or hurt, moon light, clouds

Thanks for any input.

Check my post in The War Room. KayBay's Allied Strategic & Tactical Doctrine.

I just added about 10 pages of details explaining and discussing how causing damage to various Industries effects German Production and the Axis ability to fly sorties among other things. Complete with my Target Effects Array that I built from information gleaned from game play and the Game Manual. I describe some possible Targeting Strategies and what kind of effects you can expect to occur. I also give some examples of how one might go about analyzing German Production. Includes some strengths and weaknesses of the few analysis I present. All aimed at assisting the Allied player in the 43 Campaign to develop an overall targeting strategy to defeat the Axis.

It starts on about post #23 or so..... at the end of my BC discussion. More to be added later when I have had more study and play time to put the next segment together.

No it's not the end all say all about it... just MY perspective one set of "Possible Ways" you might go about destroying the Axis. There are many here that are much more familliar than I am as I only have about 3 years in this game.

Hope it provide you with some help.
