Kursk
July 1943

10000 points Germany Goblin
vs
5000 points me Red Army

I ran out of points fast...

Ill have to use reinforcements to buy the last few things I need
I couldnt buy any air (maybe goblin will be able to)
any my tanks are few

This is gona be hard

History records that the Germans struck first
So will Goblin

The vis is 40 weather clear (like the real battle)
I didnt get to look at the map but if its realistic then it will be wide open steppe with sun baked mud.

Well this is gona be a goodie.
Have fun reading.

I ran out of points quickly also! The arty pre-plot is my only issue, as the computer gave me only 4 priority hexes for the assault!

I was not given strike aircraft either, and would not have purchased them had I been given the option.

The map is primarily wide open, with several large hills, and several smaller ridges. This is butcher turf, and a lot of open ground to cover. Had I been in charge, I would have waited until dark! **** Generals. There are a few trees, on MY side of the map.:(

Colonel Falkenberg is going to lead his valiant men to victory! Led, of course, by Major Goblin in his sturdy Panzer!

Well apparently when you select weather of 1(clear) it means thunderstorm.......

This is excellent for me since it mean goblins movement will be slowed and visibility is still 40.
Sorry about this goblin but I really did pick 1.  :(

Anyways my lines are thin with only 5000 points:( ...I did remmeber to buy F0's this battle though.:D
Ive already made my first mistake though....Ill tell it later :(

Goblin smoked my entire line so visibility is done severly due to the smoke...maybe itll lift in time...

This is gona be a good battle stay tuned

Shouldn't be that hard as Goblin leads with his chin instead of his troops.:D :p :D

Doom! Bite me.;) :D

Smoke 'em if you got 'em, and I got 'em, baby!:D Lotso smoke. The Goblin don't like the light O' day!

I believe you set the weather at one, because its done it to me too. You need to go backwards up the list. Set turns, set weather, set visibility. Otherwise, it will change one of them, and not tell you.

Some of my MC's got shot at by ATG's, I believe. I don't think they were tanks, Probably would have seen tanks shooting that many times. That's all right now!

Goblin- A Goblin has the smoking lamp lit:D

By the way...

I think FJ set himself up for a loss here. I know the computer gets 2:1 on an advance/delay mission, but I don't think a human needs it. We'll see, maybe I'm wrong. I thought it was fair for an assault mission, but FJ clarified that it was an advance/delay. Just a disclaimer in case I stomp him badly, because I've played him before, and he's pretty darn good!;)

Enough of the compliments, they're for women! Let's fight!

Goblin- A Goblin likes 2 to 1!

In hindsight 2:1 may of been a little much but what can you do?

Not much going on this turn
He smokes my lines even more that if this continues ill have lung cancer in a few turns.

I can only see a few close support tanks and about a dozen cycle groups

My artty is pretty useless since I bought very little of it.

But I have hope that I can bloody him enough to force a draw.

More of the same. FJ did buy some arty, and has 122mm's, 152mm's, and a crapload of my personal favorite (after the 107mm), the 82mm mortar. Three of my Brummbaers and some of my MC units on the south map edge found out for me! Thank goodness half the rounds fell off the board!! They still kept me pinned under the barrage! I'm lucky because my MC's (all but one) were able to proceed, but they were engaged by a second ATG. (76.2mm)

Goblin- A Goblin tries to grin and Bear it:D

Well another short turn.

His MCs advance along my southern flank looking for a breakthorugh point.
His counterbattery fire is vicious coupled with the fact that half of my radios dont work means that half of my artty and units arnt in contact.

He rains down more smoke and some 120mm batteries to silence the few units hes found so far.

On a good note his bears are hibrenating for a few turns due to my artty attacks.

This one is about to turn hot fast.

Ouch. I lost a MC MMG squad to an ambush on the edge of an orchard, south map border. A Soviet Recon team cut them off their bikes at 1 hex! The rest of my MC's cut them to ribbons, and were able to ID the hex that some ATG fire is coming from. I shifted my mortars (120mm) and got some casualties.

I've now seen only two commie soldiers. Eerie.

My Brummbaers are mainly pinned, with two able to move two hexes each.

I dropped more smoke, but am running out, so I switched some guns to HE, getting only a few casualties....

Goblin- A Goblin thinks commies should wear bells:D

Full on bombardments are happening now.
I know he bought ammo dumps as well so those mortars arnt going to stop....my artty seems weak in comparison to his :(

Those mcs are dangerous....if they find my forces im so screwed....

FJ, if you want to pull out of this, there is no loss of face! No one here, especially me, would want to fight these odds! I won't mind, and I don't think these guys will either!

That said, Eeeeewwww! Yuck. ATG's make a mess when hit with all that stuff! 150mm from several Brummbaer's, then 105mm from OB arty. I obviously spotted a bad guy ATG (finally!!), and made him suffer for it. That's about all.

Goblin- A Goblin hoses them down:D

Well my poor boys are still being pounded.
I rallyed better than I thought I would but some units are turning tail.

This smoke will cause our fight to be up close and personal.
I see 2 platoons of modified pz IV h's and more bears along the center bridge.

No hvy panzers yet but they will come.

I lay down some rocket fire along the center of golbins advance and a few more germans are going to fertalize Russian plants.

URAH!

More fertilizer than you realize! Communist rockets have ERASED a platoon of engineers. Gonzo. There are perhaps a squad of survivors, if banded together. Ouch, and Ouch again. A Curad wouldn't help at this point.

I have started a probe in the center. The nice stone bridge that I crossed the stream on isn't there anymore, compliments of the rockets.

My own arty struck hard also, producing heavy casualties.

I see a company of KV 1B's. Goodness, but the KV is a monster.

Goblin- A Goblin wants to face them:mad:

FJ and I are abandoning this game. There is no hope for him, and we're opting for a fun, challenging game. We just set it up wrong from the start.

Goblin- A Goblin hates cakewalks:)
