Lost Victories error

Help! While playing the Lost Victories campaign, I have gotten through the scenario that deals with assualting the Stalin Line (sorry, I can't remember the title). When I complete this scenario, the bottom of the screen shows files trying to be loaded. The message that appears in each case is "unable to read file" or "unable to load file" or something like that. I have gotten to this point in the campaign twice and it has done it both times. I am running on Windows ME with over 300Ram. My processor is an AMD 1400.

Second question. I downloaded the patches for Lost Victories and the desert campaign and was not quite sure where to unzip them. The directions on the website were not quite clear. I unzipped them into the campaigns folder in SPWAW. Was this correct? I sure hope you can help me because this is a great game. Thanks in advance.

They get extracted into the MatrixGames\SPWAW\MegaCam\Lost Victories directory allowing them to overwrite existing files. Once the patches are installed properly it is advised to restart the LV campaign as this is the only way to ensure proper flow from start to finish, using an old save will produce complications with the campaign flowing correctly and can result in crashes and errors.

Anthony do you have at least LV patch 1 installed. Did you start fresh or try to continue from and old save. What version of SPWAW are you running?

I found a solution - this error still happens when you
save the game in between scenarios; - there is a reference to this problem somewhere on the forum .....

I reverted to a backup of the dat files and all worked fine

FYI - I am using 7.1 with all patches for LV.

(Luckily i had a backup :-)

This "OOB data not found" thingy actually has nothing to do with any OOB files! Usually it is caused either by a missing or corrupted *.cam in the "Save" folder.

Missing *.cam files is usually be caused by not letting the MC engine do his "Autosave" job, meaning...exit out of the game without confirming "autosave" or any crash to desktop.
Same goes for corrupted *.cam file although it also was formerly be caused by the core.dat issue that is fixed for patch #1.

Give the game a chance to save the campaign fully before doing anything else with the game maybe 10 full seconds will ensure that all the data is written to the disk, even its it says it's done I bet the HD light is still blinking.

oob...

How do you revert to backup .dat files. I have the same problem and am running 7.1 with all patches. the 'unable to load oob...' happened starting 'Potapov Strikes - Malin-Korosten area -July 12, 41.

Do I have to restart the campaign?

You would have to install LV again into an alternate path and move the files over. Did you start you LV Megacampaign fresh after installing patch 1 or did you try to continue using and old save? Also it's adviseable to make backups of you Mega save in case on gets corrupted in the manner you describe. Then you can replace the corrupted save with the back-up and press on that way you don't lose all those hours you put into the Campaign. If you can't get past the point your at and you don't have a save backed up you would have to restart unless you can find a gamer in the SPWAW forum to send you one of his saves thats around the same point in the scenario. And yes gamers will share their saves because of this problem.

Thats why i have a home grown utility that allows me to take
a backup of the files at any time, with a simple button press. It has proved very useful many times over...
