Zooming in and out and Menus.

Still enjoying DW but:

I wish the zooming in and out was a lot more accurate and a lot smoother. I do find the zoom feature tends to take large increments when zooming.

Also, why are the menus so sluggish all the time. I thought that once something had loaded into the memory it usually appeared quicker when subsequently called upon.

It is not 3D so it is never going to be a smooth zoom.

Oh, Want do i know! I would have thought it would zoom in and out smoother only being 2D as the Graphics card would not have to do as much work.

Even it can't zoom that smoothly can it be made to be more accurate?

I would think the 2D graphics should be conducive to smooth gaming. As far as I can tell, from reading the comments of others on this subject, most users don't seem to have this problem. I probably have this problem to the same degree as you, drillerman. It doesn't really affect my enjoyment, but it would be preferable to have it fixed somehow.

dman, I find that setting the zoom speed to minimum helps alot. However, I use a Logitech performance MX mouse, with the scroll wheel set to free-spin, so that might not be a solution for everyone.[;)]

Hi Igard,
I bet most people are affected by it. I am using a Razer Diamond mouse for what it's worth.

from what i can tell, it seem more 'jumpy' when the 'zoom speed' is set very low (10-15% ish). when i had mine set low it'd sometimes just straight to maximum zoom in rather than a little bit in, i increased zoom speed to about 30% and the problem went away.

not certain if that's the issue your meaning, or just the switching of scale not being handled smoothly? if its that then the 2D issue is because its more like layers that have to be loaded, if it were 3D then it'd all be 1 layer that you zoom straight through to, thought the system requirements for that wouldn't be so fun mixed with epic universe :P

edit: oh and congrats on 200 ^_^

Yeah, sluggish for me as well. I especially don't like the fact that menu's are so damn slow. I mean, its a just a menu! Hope they get around to improving this part of the game, since most of the time I'm busy zooming or navigating menu's.

Agree...the zooming bugs me, too.

Yeah.. but the zooming I can understand, but rendering a simple menu screen *really* shouldn't take more than a second, so that actually bugs me more, even though, if I had to choose, smooth zooming would be nicer to have

The zooming really doesn't bother me........
The menus can get rather slow though, the thing is despite the fact that the game looks relatively simple (no offense devs[:'(]) there is a LOT of information going on. Try opening a folder containing a few thousand files on vista and you'll see a similar effect.
