I have searched for this .. and if its in the manual i apologise (i hate reading PDF docs on monitors and printers run out of ink [;)])..

So .. When Italy surrenders does all the italian AF units disapear ? IIRC from the original some italian units could remain and were actually very very useful for defending over the alps/vienna etc .. When Italy surrendered in my current german 43 game they all vanished [:(].. even the ones i had upgraded to 1/2 decent G6's over the flying coffins Ma200's etc.

In a nutshell. Still random and i got unlucky ? or do they always vanish ?

Thanks in advance .. loving this game .. takes me back more years than i care to remember , and the additional detail is just great. Nicer more informative pruduction screen would be helpful (like harleys beta one) .. but anyone dithering over getting this .. DO IT ..

Yes, all Italian units disappear when Italy is invaded at the end of August.  New units are formed which become available in early 1944 when they historically appeared, but the pilots do not carry over unfortunately.  Well, some of the names might, but their victory and mission counts do not as they are "new" in the database.

Before the invasion, I "upgraded" all the MC 205, Re 2005 and G 55 units to 109g-6 so that I could re-equip LW units with these better aircraft after the Italian surrender [:D].  You'll never have a shortage of G-6's.

We used to have the RAI surrender in part, based on morale, but it was too easy to game. We decided it was better to disband them all and bring in new ones.

The prod screens are in Alpha, they will go to beta very soon, and then it becomes a matter of what else I need to cram in before pushing a release...

Thanks for the replies gentlemen .. I was having fun with the italians .. some of the designs were pretty good i.e Mc 205 and Re 2005 .. even changed production to make a few .. oops .. my increase in fiat engine production is a tad wasted now :)

I live and learn .. still some really arent worth keeping imo .. Mc 200/202 dies like flies and the Re 2001 wasn't much better.. still i did need something to keep the escorts off the 190F's .. carrying rockets isnt healthy when tangling with P38's [;)].. related question . If/when rocket armed planes are targetted (accidentally) on enemy fighter/bomber units do they drop the rockets and become normal 'F's in A2A combat ? i'm guessing not as the rails would deplete performance badly anyway.

for the engines, should not be a total waste, you can still keep some of the planes in production, when they come back in, they going to need planes

not really sure how the game works with the rockets, those planes are already degraded, so I don't think the rockets degrade them more

but on a side note, the Ge loved bolts that blew up, and with the rockets, they used them, if you needed to get rid of the rockets or the tubes, you could flip a switch and BLOW them off

the 190 Cockpit also had the same kind of bolt holding it in place, need to get out, flip a switch and BLOW, the cockpit off (really, it just picked it up into the slipstream, and then air pressure did the rest)

the V1 also had them, when the Gryo got to where it was to go, the bolts blew, and locked the the tail unit into a dive

(they did a lot of stuff like that, put a mine on top of there tanks, in case Inf got too close, made a rifle with a bent barrel, so they could shoot around rubble)
