I think I still have my copy somewhere... mildly entertaining action flick with a couple good HKBO-style shootouts, weighted down by a lot of wannabe-warmovie failure, IMHO.

Before I clicked on this, I thought you were going to be referring to the Eurovision Song Contest btw... ;)

Seems very generous.

I liked it. Wasn't anywhere close to being authentic but I liked it. Have the dvd too. One war movie I never could watch as a kid and still can't is Battle of the Bulge. I can't stand that movie.

I have Windtalkers on DVD but only because it came in a war film bundle pack that had Tora! Tora! Tora!, Patton, The Thin Red Line, and Platoon. Don't anyone dis The Thin Red Line, I am a fan of all of Terrence Malick's movies and it was refreshing to see a war movie from the perspective he chose.

This might come as a surprise for some but there's an ON/OFF button on most tv's [;)]

Last year, while in the US, I managed to pick up an autographed edition of the book which details the real story from first hand accounts and Marine archives

http://www.amazon.com/Navajo-Weapon-Tal ... 1887896325

Interesting read, but not really movie material if you keep strictly to what *really* happened, hence this Hollywood version.

Greetz,

For a whole night's worth of self-loathing, might I suggest "Windtalkers" first, followed by "Pearl Harbor(or "Pearl Harbour" for JD)".

After watching those, you may want to

Pearl Harbor makes for great entertainment if you're with a group of buddies, all mocking it relentlessly. [:D]

As for Nick Cage's War movies, I liked and own Capt. Corelli's Mandolin.

yea it's a love story, but it does have Ju 87s in it, as well as the only Jagdpanzer 38(t) to serve in the Aegen. lol.

Indeed! Pearl Harbor would've been a great candidate for "Mystery Science Theater 3000". [:D]

Cage is alright. I think he's related to some bigwig so the movies he gets are usually quite good. But this one stunk. Flat out stupid. 2 thumbs way down.

When he was on the radio giving coded messages of where to srike w/ artillery, who cares? What does it matter at that point? Strategic gains revealed at a tactical level? Even missus salad rolled her eyes and nodded off.
