Very cool.
But that's a huge take on the Ambassador.

But that's a huge take on the Ambassador.
Do you mean it is out of scale with the other ships. DW seems to scale the ships its self. All the ships are actually the same size but as you can see the nebula class is a lot smaller than the nx-01 for example.

Oh, I didn't know DW did that.
Yes, it is out of scale, as is the Nebula, but I guess that's DW's fault.

Dman, these look great. I can't wait 'till the devs implement the extra ships in the family folders (MIL1A, MIL1B etc.). Then we could use the NX-01 as an early design, from there we can start designing miranda class ships, then onto constitution class, excelsior etc etc.. We could build the federation from scratch.
My dream Star Trek mod would include these ships:
Early Earth vessels;
Escort: DY-500 class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/DY-500
Frigate: NX-01 (Archers Enterprise)
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Enterprise_%28NX-01%29
Destroyer: Intrepid Type
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Intrepid
Cruiser:N/A
Early Federation Vessels;
Escort: Hermes Class
http://stexpanded.wikia.com/wiki/Hermes_class
Frigate: Daedalus Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Daedalus_class
Destroyer: Constitution Class (original configuration)
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Constitution_class
Cruiser: N/A
Kirk Era Federation Vessels;
Escort: Oberth Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Oberth_class
Frigate: Soyuz Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Soyuz_class
Destroyer: Constitution Class (Refit Configuration)
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Constitution_class
Cruiser: Excelsior Class (Original Configuration)
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Excelsior_class
Capital Ship:N/A
Early TNG Federation Vessels;
Escort: Miranda Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Miranda_class
Frigate: Constellation Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Constellation_class
Destroyer: Excelsior Class (Refit Configuration)
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Excelsior_class
Cruiser: Nebula Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Nebula_class
Capital Ship: Galaxy Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Galaxy_class
Late TNG Federation Vessels;
Escort: Defiant Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Defiant_class
Frigate: Akira Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Akira_class
Destroyer: Intrepid Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Intrepid_class
Cruiser: Galaxy Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Galaxy_class
Capital Ship: Sovereign Class
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Sovereign_class
OK, so DW is still a ways off providing us with the tools to mod this, but I don't think it's unrealistic to see a mod like this at some point in the future. My hope is, with talented, enthusiastic modders like drillerman and others on this forum, some suggestions and encouragement from casual posters like me, and of course with some big help from the devs, we can make DW the best 4x game ever for modding![;)]

Just a quick point here. Should I or shouldn't I have the exhaust during flight?

I'd like to see it without the exhaust, however if you want to use exhaust trails, I would ask that you place them where the impulse engines are (that's usually on the saucer section in most Federation designs). The two problems with this is, 1. Federation impulse engines don't create exhaust trails and 2. It would not look right when the ship is in hyperspace (warp) since the impulse engines aren't used.
I haven't seen any ships in-game without exhausts so I don't know how weird it looks, but if you're going for authentic Star Trek, I'd leave them out regardless. If you just want it to look good, then by all means, go ahead and use them, I'll still enjoy this mod.[:)]

I am glad you said that Igard because they don't look right with exhaust plumes.
BTW, here are some space stations

Wow, drillerman, you are working on some great looking shipsets. Any idea of when you plan to release them to the community?

I don't usually attempt modding, but I felt compelled to try my hand at a Defiant class ship.
Drillerman, I don't mean to hijack your thread, I hope you don't mind.

Here's a screen..
The small one is the real defiant. You can't see much detail on it 'cos it's such a little ship, so I made a bigger one to illustrate.
