The stock naming system often have names that are specific to the system where the ship was built...ie Resolution of Sol...Hand of Astra Junction

Anyone know if their is a way add more of these system specific names using a custom shipnames.txt file?

Unfortunately adding a shipnames.txt file will over-ride the naming provided by the game.

However, there is a caveat...any ship class you do not provide names for will revert back to the default. The problem is that you can't have both...in other words, adding additional names will automatically leave out the default, and not only that, the added list of names in the customization folder will repeat for a class once it goes through the list.

Short answer, AFAIK is no.
