I've notice that all newly aquired airbases in South Italy are greyed out and I can't relocate fighters there. I take it there is a period of time to get ground crews and admin. in the area before I can just waltz in, but how long do you have to wait for the new bases to open up?

They become operational 6-8 days after they've been captured(I think). Allies will also build new airfields, they show up as gray first too.

Here is another question, south of the Gustav Line, how many A/F do the allies get?  Enough to move all of Sicily and Malta on to the main land? 

Yes, and more.  In November the 15th AF forms you get a ton of bases around Foggia.  205 Group also consolidates there.   In October Sardina and later Corsica are also captured, and you get bases there too which outflank the Germans and essentially forces them to pull north if they have not already.

plus, when Harley gets done what he is doing and I release the BTR OOB, there are more Airfields in the whole area south
