Will it run on a Netbook?

Hello,

as I did not manage to buy the game yesterday I am planning to do so tonight. As I play most of my wargames on my Netbook I was wondering if it can cope with BOTB aswell.

Actualy I am using an ASUS 1201n which sports a Dual Core Atom CPU (1,6 Ghz) and NVidia Ion Graphics, 1366x768 Display, 3 GB RAM and Windows 7 ultimate. It even runs 3D shooters fine but I am not sure if the CPU can cope with BOTB.

As I dont want to download the game only to find out that I had better used my Desktop PC I would be happy if someone could give me rought idea on how it will run on my little PC.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Rob

I don't expect BFTB to have any problems with that system, but Dave (Arjuna) would have the final say on that.

System requirements say "CPU: 2 GHz" so it may not

I cannot give an absolute guarantee as we do not have a Netbook. However, BFTB still runs on my five year old dev machine that has a 1.5 cpu. I think it runs too slow on that machine and hence why we reocmmend a faster processor. But I don't know how perful this Dual Core Atom CPU is. Being a dual core helps and if it runs shooters OK, then it should be alright. But again, I cannot guarantee that. You might be best advised to wait for the demo. We hope to get that out in a few weeks.

Well AGEODs RISE OF PRUSSIA runs fine, so I am hoping it can cope with BOTB aswell. I will wait for an official word. Thank you for your input anyway mate!

Oops! Sorry Dave,

i did not notice you already replied. Anyway, I shall download it on the Netbook tonight. Its slightly overclocked to 1,8 GhZ anyway so I will take the risk! I will post about success here if you are interested!

Vielen Dank

I tested BftB for few years [;)] on my two old IMB ThinkPad R52 laptops (1.6 GHz, 512 MB RAM, Intel integrated graphics) - the game works (I played hundreads and hundreads AI vs AI tests on them [:D])!

Don't think it's been mentioned but the resolution on ElchDivision's netbook is 1366 x 768. I think a lot of netbooks run at 1024 x 600, e.g. Samsung NC10, which I believe won't run BftB 'as is'.

I haven't tried with BftB yet, but I can get CotA running - which has the same min resolution - using software (AsTray plus) to change the virtual display resolution before running.

Hi all,

1024x768 is minimum I believe (my IBM ThinkPad R52s laptops had just that)...

Elch, I have the same new netbook, and am quite impressed. Runs HTTR just fine, as well as EF2000 and Max Payne 2. Please do post your experience with BtfB when you can. Will be very interested to hear.

And good luck.

It runs like a charm!!!! Fast like hell, crisp display resolution, short loading times - EXCELLENT!!!

If you have a flatscreen TV hook the Asus up to it using the HDMI port. Makes "The Bulge" even better!

I got the 1201n two weeks back and i am also more than impressed with it. After removing the bloatware which came preinstalled it runs lightning fast and it can even play Medieval 2 Total War, which is incredible for a small machine like that.
I can only recommend it.

Bye for now

Rob

If anybody is interested [;)] - I've got BftB running on my Samsung NC10 using AsTray Plus to overcome the native 1024x600 resolution of the netbook.  Will need to play for a while to decide if it's better using screen scrolling or downscaling, i.e. fits the virtual 1024x768 onto the screen causing some distortion.
