...but I'll say it now: this game is seriously overpriced.

*sigh*
Did this really require ANOTHER thread on the price topic?

Well Bamilus, this guy is posting a viewpoint.
Looking at his historical posts it seems he's bought War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition which is the same USD price that BFtB is currently selling for, so he's obviously looking for value for money.
His post would have been more helpful though if he told us why BFtB is overpriced in his opinion. Then we could have a more targeted discussion.
You know like "whole Pacific vs just the Bulge" etc. I might reply that compared to WitPAE, BFtB seems at least playable to conclusion and it does cover one of the most popular episodes of WW2. We could debate like that.

His viewpoint has nothing to do with it. It's the fact that there are already at least 6 different threads discussing the price. We don't need people starting more price related threads when we already have enough to serve everyone.

I agree completely. Our readers have every right to disagree with the pricing, but their desire to effectively communicate that reasonable concern ought to dictate that they use the topic/thread structure to do so.

Disagreement is always fine, but telling me where to post and where not to post? A question: who died and made you moderators?
Get over yourselves.

As to value for money, WITP and WITPAE offer an entire theater of war for four years and virtually infinite playability and replayability.
I own at least eight board and computer Bulge games, maybe as many as twelve (I had several relatives in the battle). They don't.

No one made me moderator, but this thread is just crying out "LOOK AT ME!" given it is sitting right above a 11+ page thread entitled "Price."
It basically comes down to common sense, smart posting habits and looking for attention. This thread lacks the first two but is swimming in the last.

In another life, I was the moderator of a game forum. A feature of the bulletin-board software allowed me to reorganize messages such that I could keep discussion on-track. I didn't do so very often, but it was, nonetheless, great to have the option.
Get over yourselves.
Hey, there's a thread dedicated to what is apparently your foremost concern regarding this game. Go forth, and let yourself be heard. Last time that I checked it had upwards of three-hundred posts. Your not alone in your concerns, excepting that you've chosen to voice your protest, more or less, independently. A reasonable person could take that to mean that it's all about you and not the rest of us. [:)]

Nice to meet you Steely and I agree with you - start a new thread where you want and make it stand out, I've seen worse here [;)] (not to mention a million bots).
Re WitPAE I thought that this is where your concept of "value" was coming from. Fair enough. For me, knowing the pricing of wargames today and the need of developers to try to make a decent living on the time they invest, I've no problem with the price of BFtB as is. Many PC game designers have thrown it in and gone back to designing board games/taking government contracts as opposed to giving us PC wargames to enjoy.
But let me play BFtBnow. I've printed the rulebook. It may be a total waste of effort and $91AUD burned but I really don't think it will end this way. At Matrix I've burned exactly that money combined on Commander Napoleon and Barbarossa - pieces of #$%* imo. Talk about cheaper titles - "cheaper" in more ways than one.
Panther is like 2by3 imo, a team of dedicated professionals to our hobby.
By the way - you bring up a very salient point about the number of Bulge games around. Whilst there's more in the boardgaming world, some here may say; "what $79 USD for another Bulge game?" I hope not.

You two enjoy talking to each other. I'll be chatting with the other 100 people in the real price thread.

You have a right to post like you want, but I don't like to have to scroll over many threads to find the ones of interest to me. You should think of others too. What do you think you have accoplished by publishing in a new thread?

I was trying to express my opinion as a long time gamer, Matrix customer, and forum member. This appears, however, to have upset the Junior Forum Nazis and mod wannabes.

I'm frankly appalled by other forum users who dare to think that they have the right to jump on another forum user for daring to create a thread. I don't think I've seen delusions of grandeur at this level in the five years I've been on this board. It's not just wrong, it's disgusting.

Steely,
No need for that. There's no bad intent here, it's actually pretty typical forum policy to ask that comments that are on pricing go in the huge pricing thread that already exists. I've asked this in a couple of other threads that were hijacked from their original topics by pricing comments. I don't mind that you created your own thread as you did not hijack one that was on a different topic, but realize that it's actually typical forum manners and rules on many other forums that creating lots of threads on the same topic of a thread that already exists is frowned upon.
Regards,
- Erik

I have to admit I've noticed alot of new members posting comments that may upset older members, they aren't taking into account the fact that many older forum member s have supported Matrix for a long time and may even own the previous Panther games so really do have a right to voice their complaints ...considering it was quite a freindly forum not to long ago I do hope it continues to be so...but some signs look ominous
Eric I can see where he is coming from...he and I aren't the only ones who have noticed it....

Agreed.
Whats worse is that by singling out Steely and choosing to ignore the other people involved he has validated their behavior.
Considering that they started it, escalated it and were the ones being insulting and confrontational, to give them a pass and validate their behavior seems very wrong to me.

I've spent at least $300 in Matrix Games in the past 8 months. Don't think because we are "new" to the forums (as if there is some sort of pecking order....) that we don't support Matrix (or Panther games. I bought HTTR a few months after it came out. Granted I never played it much but I still bought it [:D]. That's why I consider my BftB my first "true" Panther game).
I don't see how your comment adds to the topic and frankly I'm a bit offended by it.
Regardless, I'm leaving this thread as it seems to only cause controversy. I'll try to stay away from debate threads for awhile until this whole price issue gets cooled down.
