Distributer deal Sheytan they've had it for years. NWS has pretty much always sold the physical game for the same price as Matrixgames direct download without physical copy. Just broadens there avenues of sales. I buy most of my games from NWS unless Matrixgames sells the games without a manual anyway. In this case this really is the first time the physical has been $10 cheaper than the direct download though. It will just be a case and a cdrom (perhaps a dvdrom?) and that's all. Plus there still will be that $4 shipping fee so it's really only a $6 savings here in the US. Still not in my price range as I want it for $59.99 + $4 shipping.

NWS is one of our authorized dealers and they do get a discount because they order from us in bulk. This is part of the outreach we started years ago to other wargame hobby shops/resellers/distributors to raise awareness of our products. What they choose to set the price at after their discount is up to them.

Why Wombat when Matrixgames has already got their profit from the bulk sales to NSW. I think they also use Tri-Synergy for distribution also. Will this be on Amazon.com also Erik?

Also if you check you'll find that NWS undercuts HPS titles by $20 also. HPS gets $49.99 mostly for their titles and NSW sells them for $29.99 most of the time. He does jack up his prices when he lists them on ebay though to $34.99

For Matrixgames a sale of a copy is a sale of a copy. They may not make as much by NWS or Tri-Synergy selling them but they also don't have to do the sales marketing either for those distribution sites.

I think the point is, why would anyone want to buy it here? And further, if it is available for less from a authorized distributer...again its cheaper there...why not match the price? It makes no sense at all. none, nada.

Edited to add the following, I didnt want to say this but, what this situation resembles...is gouging people whom are dedicated to purchasing product directly from Matrix. This is frankly what the situation now looks like.

Not really Sheytan it's nothing more than those that read the weekly ads for grocery stores and goto the one that sells the same product as the other for a dollar or two less. Those that don't read the ads pay more at their regular stores. We've been playing that game for a long time now. On the internet it's usually by word of mouth we find out these deals. I do searches daily for bargains while others wouldn't waste their time as there is also a thing called value vs time!
So there's value vs cost and there is value vs time. Some people are just impatient and buy what they want when they see it disregarding sales or sales ads.

Because Matrix does Direct Download and NWS does not, never underestimate the power of instant gratification.

Also you risk losing your rights to support for the game when buying through a small dealer like NWS. If NWS goes down and you later lose your serial number or something, you'll have to re-purchase the game. I'm not saying NWS is in any danger of going belly up or anything, but the risks are higher when you are dealing with a tiny one man operation like NWS. At least I think it’s just one guy over there.

I buy direct from Matrix to support a company that provides me with enjoyable games (UV, WITP, WITP-AE etc...). No longer do we have a large number of quality game companies. To me, it is better I spend a few extra dollars and help Matrix than to save a few bucks and see them go under.
