Is it better to attach artillery to infantry leaders or concentrate them with artillery leaders?

My first choice is good arty leaders (if I have them). That's leaders with arty values of 3 and 4. Next is putting them with corps leaders where there arty value is 1 less than their infantry value (and where arty is at least a 2). Then the arty leaders with arty values of 2. If playing with CSC's, things can change, and much depends on what leaders you have and how much arty you have.
- You don't want to slow up your infantry with arty if the leader stats can't keep the arty moving at the same speed as the infantry.
- You want the best arty rating you can get for your arty.
- Sometimes you don't have a choice due to leader shortages (or more complex calculations when using CSC's).

I for one is a bit mystified with CSC's after seeing your last sentence. From what I read in the manual, it seemed that the CSC's only aid in combat and unit commitment. I thought it would only be the Corp Commander that was used to calculate movement points. Can you please explain?

Thanks, Joel. I am really enjoying this game now. Sorry I didn't get it the first time around. I do now & I am amazed by it. Wow! Good job.

Gargoil, you are absolutely correct that CSC's don't impact the MPs of the units. When using CSC's there is the added desire to get CSCs covering all your different formations (so every unit gets combat help from two leaders), so it just complicates the issue of what leaders you have versus where you want to put them in order to get maximum coverage by both the Corps leaders and the sub-commanders.

Ok, how are artillery leaders activated? Does the first one come in automatically?
(Winged Longstreet & won the day at Manassas in May, 1862. Father Abraham is dancing. Outstanding gaming experience.)[:D][&o][&o][&o]

select one piece of atry and then select activate leader (xx activations remain)
it is good explained in one of these tutorials. thou need admin leaders as well later in the war. to activate admin leaders/ENG leaders, you can select one resource center and then select activate leader.
for naval leaders select a ship, for cav leaders select a mounted unit or a cav unit.
