Hello, how to prevent the CSA Cav raids ? I mean, the CSA Cav is everywhere and they have almost twice as many Cav as I do. How to prevent them raiding my areas ?
Is it like Tank warfare (the best thing to stop a tank is a tank ?) does it works like this way ?
thanks in advance !

I am still learning the game myself, but I do believe I can answer this one.
You are correct in the "Tank vs Tank" analogy. Cavalry "screens" against cavalry raids.

thank you !
maybe you can answer another question...
I do not understand what I can do against those raiders.
In place AO2, there are 10 raiders. I have 14 ships there, 1 Iron Clad, 13 Cruisers. Still, the raiders seem to kill more and more of my supply ships.
it is May 63 and the naval situation there gets worser and worser. OK, I have 1015 PP and already Black recruitment and I am doing fine along the Confeds coast (New Orleans closed but still in CSA hands.) And only Wilmington, Charlston, Mobile (closes) and Galveston are in the hand of the CSA.
But how on earth I sink those raiders in AO2 ?

Like I said in my previous post, I am still learning this game as well. I made it to mid 63 my 1st game, I had 14 Cruisers against 14 Raiders in AO2- and I did not see any raiders sunk either. I have no idea what is the proper number of cruisers to put in AO2. Possibly Mr. Billings will respond to this one.

To stop CSA cav you need Federal cav ... with a good leader. In a pbem game I do good in the east vs. the Federal leaders but out west against Sheridan I get whooped!! I don't know if they modelled the Morgan horse into the game but when Federal cav started getting the Morgan things changed.
As for raiders you got to get on them right at the begining. I put 3 cruisers and a good 3 naval leader in area AO2 (?). If this is against the computers then that's why you have 10 raiders. The computer out produces you.

CSA Cavalry has the advantage initially. You do need cavalry screens to deter them and limit the effects of their scouting and raids, though you will not be able to fully stop them until you have some great cavalry leaders and experienced cavalry and commit to cavalry superiority in a particular theater later in the war.
With the CSA Commerce Raiders, you need to definitely jump on them quickly. Once they build up experience, they are very tough to stop. Devote significant cruisers to them starting on Turn 1. Ideally, try to always have more Cruisers than there are Raiders. If you start early and stay committed to keeping more Cruisers with a good leader in there than there are Raiders, they will likely not build up to be nearly as formidable a force later on.

- Erik

Does this work with multiple leaders? Say there are 4 raiders and I have one naval leader with a CR of 3 with 3 ships and one with a CR of 2 with 2 ships in AO2. Will I benefit from both leaders, or only one?

The 3 ships well benefit from it's leader, while the other two will benefit from the other leader. You always want your ships to be attached to a leader. Yes, don't let the raiders get out of hand. The advice to always have more cruisers in AO2 than raiders is good advice.

Thakns Joel, but I have 15 CS in AO2 and there are 10 Raiders there since 6 months. It doesnt seem to do a lot to them. Since 6 turns, nothing happened there exept my free trading ships are sunk by them [&:]

As Erik said, it's all about the experience of the raiders. You can't let them survive to where they have so many because they will be very experienced.
