Weather zones and seasons

I looked through the threads and noticed there was mention of the weather zones. I sorta know where the 6 are but not sure where the boundary lays. Any help in this area, a good rule of thumb or something?

Another question with the weather is a seasonal one, are there seasons or is it just random through out the year.

there be 6 of them

really, the best way, would be to zoom in and move around the map

a lot of times, if England and France are good, Germany will be bad and what not

weather is the worst enemy

overall, would say it is seasonal, but you can get good weather in Dec and bad weather in June

Please see this thread which includes a mini-map I made with weather zones.

tm.asp?m=2369695

As far as seasons go, each zone seems to have it's own modifiers. In general the weather in northern Europe starts getting bad in November, is practically non-flyable in December, has holes of good weather January, and gets back to more or less normal in February (which is as far as I am in the campaign).

Of the "active" zones, the central Mediterranean weather zone has the least amount of bad weather. I can't discern whether the Britain-France zone is better or worse than the Germany zone. Seems one has decent weather and the other often does not.

Might be worth noting that if the cloud ceiling is high enough you can fly missions below it without negative implications from the weather, although the deleterious effects of flak perhaps become more of an issue then.

One last weather question, does flying in clouds at night help any?  I got a turn where england is perfect and germany is horriable but with full moon effects for spotting but how can NF spot when the cloud cover is 90%?  Just curious is all.

I don't know about 90%, but lower clouds % us good for the LW

you don't fly though the clouds, if you can help it as a bomber, you fly over them, but with moonlight, or fires, spotlights, shining on the bottom of the clouds, would make the bombers stand out, like it was daytime

I remember reading from one RAF night fighter who was flying above a raid one night, how sorry he felt for the bombers and hoped that none of them, ever seen what a raid really looked like, they think they are hidden, and it is only bad luck, if one of them gets spotted and attacked, he could see every bomber in the area, and knew that the LW pilot could also

Like flies on a table cloth is how I've seen it described by a LW NJ pilot.
