exit order not working

In the Hell on Wheels scenario, although I have a bunch of units sitting on the exit objective with exit orders at the end of the game, not a single unit has left the map and I have zero points for having exited units, turning what should have been a decisive victory into a draw.
Am I missing something? Also I started the orders for leaving the map 24 hours in advance (although the objective was not visible yet), but most units still never made it to the exit objective, despite negligible German resisance along the road.

Hi henri,
Did you used this order, like on the screen?

Do you mean you gave the order before the Samree exit objective was active, or before you had a LOS to it? If the latter, then that might explain what happened.

Yes I did, and this raises another problem.
I reloaded a saved game from noon on day 3 (10 hours before the scenario ends), and immediately gave orders to EVERY HQ or unit to go near the exit point (which only becomes visible at 0730 on day 4, 2.5 hours before the end of the scenario). The units did so, but as can be seen from the map, some did not make it despite no German units on the way. When the exit point became active at 0730 I gave everyone orders to exit. Some did, but many did not and I got messages that some cancelled the exit order due to lack of time!
Fortunately enough units DID exit to satisfy the max exit points for the scenario; unfortunately even that was not enough to get a significant or decisive victory, although I had every objective but one. This means that in this scenario it is impossible to get better than a marginal victory.
So there are two issues here 1) Possibly not being able to give exit orders before the exit point becomes active, and apparently that sometimes not working, 2) a scenario design issue where there is not enough time between the time the exit point becomes active and the end of the scenario.
Hell I could have pulled out most of my units on the previous day! Hurray for maneuver warfare![:D]

Hi,
Could you send me the saved game you have. Send to "paul at the scobells dot com".
We will then see if we can reproduce it.
Thanks.

Thanks I sent the final saved game as well as a saved game at 0500 on day 4. I also have one from day 3, when some of the units already had exit orders.
I loaded a saved game from noon on day 3 and checked the time from Amonimes to the exit point for a HQ with two tracked units (all units are tracked). I gave a move order and ran the game for a few minutes until the path appeared. The settings were normal speed, fastest route and the units were 40% fatigued. There is only one enemy unit down the road covered by over one friendly battalion, and the path is down the road by the river and the conditions are light snow.
The estimated time is 21 hours (1300 to 1000)! On a road! This is about 1/3 km/hour. Sheesh, the soldiers could walk the 8 or so km in less time than that!.Maybe something is amiss in the calculation of speed?

Henri,
Thanks for your feedback. First off, You should not be able to order na exit if there is no exit objective. It just won't work as the PlanDOctrine requires an active objective for a whole host of reasons I won't go into here. The best you can do is order your force to defend at the same location and then once it becomes active issue new orders to exit. As to there not being enough time to get everyone exiting before the end of the scenario, then yes this is a scenario design issue and we ( Are you listening Richard? [;)] ) can adjust that.
