1.04.9 - Why do my Mines keep disappearing?

I was checking my Resource stockpile and noticed that my Opal supply was in the 'bottom ten' (or however many show up on the screen). I looked and I only had 3 sources (planets) for them, which is funny, because a long time back I had 6 sources for them.

I dug further, and it seems that some of the other AI now had Mines where mine previously were - the Mines have always been in my Systems. At least one of the AI's was an Ally, and some of the others were ones I was on so-so terms with.

I haven't been at War, and Pirates have long since been almost non existent. What few Pirates rarely show up are quickly waxed before they can do any damage.

I dug even deeper. A lot of my Gas Mining Stations were also gone - which explains why I keep finding planets in Systems I've already been through with un-mined Gas Planets. Quite a while back I had well over a hundred Gas mines, now I have less than hundred.

I'm in about year 60 of this game, and I'm starting to wonder if long duration games suffer from this issue.

Private sector is running a deficit and scraps mining stations.

I don't think so, they've got about 7M in the Bank and are earning about 400k or so a year.

The only time the Private has ever been in the red was in the early years.

This has happened to me too. I noticed that about 5 various types of mining stations in my home system were gone. They weren't destroyed, I had no enemies and they were armed just enough to fend off pirates. Not to mention I had a lot of military ships in that system.
