CTD - Artillery Status in Limbo

Losheim Gap Scenario - Windows XP, current SP.

I gave bombard order to artillery unit; it said friendlies in way, thus no fire. Normally, when this happens, after the assigned number of minutes, the artillery unit will revert back to idle. This time, it did not. It seemed to be stuck in bombard - friendlies in the way.

So I selected the unit from the map (not the FP table), and gave it another assignment. It appeared to take it, but within seconds, got the CTD.

Sorry, but no useful save.

Note that earlier (perhaps 1/2 hour in gametime), I went to shift the fire of an artillery unit under direct control. Normally you can click and drag the fire symbol (sort of box with plus sign) to another target. But this time, the UI refused to let me drag the target. I would click on the symbol, and start to drag, but would get a rubber-band selection box (as if I was trying to select multiple units). To me it appeared the UI forgot that I was trying to shift fire, and was simply selecting some units.

Ok.

Tried to reproduce this with my latest code and could not reproduce it.

I think the fixes I already made may have corrected whatever was going on. Those fixes were all around giving orders and how in some cases that mucked things up.

If you can get a save game that you can then reliably use to reproduce the issue then I can confirm its fixed.
