I'll try here first: when I click on the manual I get "ding, ding" but no manual. I have Adobe "Reader" loaded (latest free version). Is there something I should know about this that I don't?

The only way you can open the manual from the game is if you open it through the Game Menu. I much prefer opening it by using Quick Start - it launches faster. I just checked the Game Menu, and it opens fine for me, after the bell rings twice.
But in any event, whenever I need to open the manual -
Without opening the game, go to the War Plan Orange folder, either by clicking your system's start button or by going into My Computer. Then open "Game Manual (E-Book)". The manual should launch in Adobe Reader.
Also remember you can reduce the game window by hitting Control-Escape, if you want to reference the manual while playing the game - just do it between turns or while a combat report is on the screen.

Thanks; I'll give it a whirl. If that doesn't work, I try unloading Adobe reader and redownloading/loading. Seems to be a local (my machine) problem.

Worked fine that way. Maybe it was taking uber long using the in-game link and I just thought nothing was happening and closed it or something. Many thanks. For some reason, I can't seem to keep the concentration up as well with an on-screen manual (as opposed to a printed one) so it'll likely be a while until I actually start (I'm not the dive right in type

). It just adds to the anticipation level
