port and sea zone circles

Comments on the tutorial have highlighted some confusion on the sea zone and port circles.

Very briefly, there is one sea zone circle per sea zone. Likewise there is one port circle per port city. A ship/task force is either at sea or in port.

Hover the cursor over a sea zone or port circle and get a popup which lists ship types in that specific place. And an estimate of enemy ships obtained through recon.

Select 'move' for a ship/task force and the game removes all port or sea zone circles which are out of range. Click on one in range for the move to take place.

Hope that helps.

Thanks GW, I must be slow...

Now if you choose a sea zone to move to, and the AI chooses the same sea zone, there is a chance of combat? I sometimes see an enemy icon hanging out in a sea zone I am also in...I think

yes it will. Naval combat is the last turn in the combat phase.

As Axisandallies said, yes you do get naval combat that way. You can do recon on sea zone's, by the way, just in case you haven't come across that yet. It will give you variable info on the enemy, if it gives you any at all.

I will re-post here:

Any time something is new we have to learn.

OK OK it is very simple..

To move a ship or fleet click on the Circle.

A menu pops up.

Choose the fleet or individual ship.

Click move.

ZOOM OUT, please.

any circle you see is where you can go.

All ships move two.

Pretty easy.. Count 1,2

plan count 1 2

Remember a Port is a circle, so that is one move.

If your in a port, 1 to sea, 1 to adjacant see.

If in a sea, move to port in sea zone, or move one sea zone and then into a port.

OR if in a sea, move two sea zones.

EXCEPTION

Did you read the manual?

Hint: Ships can only enter certain size ports.

Check the manual.

The manual? We don't need no stinkin' manual!

(But I'm glad you mentioned that, because I failed to note it. If only the IJN could just sit in the Hawaiian zone and hammer Pearl every turn, bring its port capacity down to zero, and force the USN back to the coast.)
