They are relentless and suicidal! They attack my ships but my bases gladly let them dock, if they survive. The alarms from them attacking me is driving me to distraction. What the heck did I do? Using new beta.

happened to me in 1.4.9:
At some point, u accidentaly fired upon one of the freighters...
Only solution is to kill them all, which is very hard - they r joined by other neutral's, but i have no clue on what basis - maybe planet of origin/race..
Or alternatively, as they are from one (formerly) independent planet, just figure they trading zone and dont station your attack fleet there.
AFAIK they only attack ships that attacked them previously, thus disbanding or stationing elsewhere of the offending ships is the only practical solution i'm aware of..

I had this happen, too.  Kept attacking my fleet, then would flee from them.  I figured this was a bug, but ended up starting a new game and forgot about this issue.  You should post this in the bug forum & Matrix will look into it.
