Naval Questions

Goodaye,

Having read the AAR's I've got a couple of questions over how the naval side works.

1: I see weather effects portrayed on land but couldn't see any indication of weather effects at sea. If you are flying recon missions into a sea zone does weather affect your chances of finding anything?

2: If two naval forces meet in the same sea zone is combat automatic or is there a chance that they might not find each other?

3: Recon reports that tell you what is in a certain sea zone - are these always 100% accurate or is there a measure of variability? Eg. your pilots report seeing a carrier when in fact it was a cruiser.

4: Sea Battle reports - are these also 100% accurate or is it possible that you are told that you have sunk the "Lexington" but in fact it is only partially damaged?

Thanks in advance.

On a side note I'm another owner of WITP who finds it a bit overwhelming and am looking for a more digestable Pacific wargame.

Cheers,
Lancer

Also regarding #2 from what I read in the manual tonight, if you do not check 'engage' then your fleet will show as evade and it is less likely a sea battle will occur. I was setting my carrier fleets to evade because i wanted to try and keep them out of combat if possible. You almost always would want a tranport fleet to evade.

1. Only for land combat. Take in mind that turns in Pacific scenario are equivalent of one week and in game naval combat represent sum of all naval battles in this time period.
2. Have a look at this topic tm.asp?m=2499469 and examine series of pictures after the same turn. It is a good addition to information posted by other players.
3. Accurate, but first you have to find ships.
4. Accurate.
