"Spelt"? Granted, an acceptable form of the past tense of "spell". But still, it is widely more common to use "spelled".
These days I just don't hear "spelt" spoken that much and I believe in standard, formal writing, "spelled" is more accepted.
Since you were commenting on a misspelling, in your case and to avoid posts such as this one, I would have used "spelled".
Now if you did this all on purpose, that is a different matter and I congratulate your ingenuity.

This is how I was tault! Or would that be "told" how to do it ! As it was done in the past tense that is why I used spelt instead of spelled. But I appreciate your response anyway.
Maybe it is a Canadian thing.

I was wondering why I used spelt sometimes.
Being from Minnesota, you Canadians must have rubbed off on us, eh?

In Australian English, both forms are accepted. I'm not aware that either is preferred over the other.
