What happened to 3.0

Its been more that a year since any news on 3.0. Are there any updates??
David has done some work with porting the code to a new engine, but he would likely need some guaranteed revenue to go further. There are many up front costs to using a new game engine and creating realistic animations. It is not cheap.
He is also quite busy in his other job, as I have been told. That is the priority.
I'd really like to see some modifications to 2.2 though, so please keep posting if you have interest.
