Elsenborn Ridge: Units fortified w/o Fort terrain

In the Elsenborn Ridge scenario, the Allied 1 BN, 394th (in and around Losheimergraben) starts out with a Deployment of "Fortified". The problem is that there is no Fort terrain to support this deployment.

From the Game Manual: "Units can only become Fortified if they are on Fort terrain – they cannot build a new fort during the game."

I guess it's possible the scenario designer intended this, but I submit that it is an error and the 1.394 HQ and sub-units should be changed to "Entrenched" (be careful to fix IR.394 to the south).

Perhaps it would be a good idea to modify the scenario editor to enforce the terrain rule for "Fortified" also.

Needless to say, as it stands these units put up a hell of a fight!

A side-comment about this saved game. The 990th (minus its 1st Bn) has been held up 1km west of Neuhof since the beginning of the scenario. On Day 1 there were a few enemy units, but after that it appears to be due to a single enemy company, the C Coy/393, dug in and seemingly unmoveable. Curiously, this enemy unit occupies exactly the same spot as 277 Fusiliers (990 subunit). There seems to be plenty of shooting going on, but to little effect on C Coy/393.

If the crash can be sorted out, I think it would be worth investigating the dynamics of that little battle.

Edit: Sorry folks, this was meant for another thread

Agreed they should have been entrenched. Fixed.
