Hi

I have been admiring the FITE 10km map. Is it possible to get this map as a mapdump. Everytime i try to the game crashes. What size does the file become? Does anyone know where you can get your hands of a mapdump of one.

Or any other nicelooking 10km scale Soviet union/Eastern Europe map.

Thanks for any help.

Game crashes on a map dump? I don't know why that would be. You should be able to save a map as a .mal file and then open the editor and load it. That gives you a map with no oob and no events. The map is about 250 kb in size. Pierro's 'Barbarossa Tactical' map is similar.

Hi sPzAbt653. Thanks for volunteering to help. I was thinking of the option to save a map as picture in BMP format, so that its possible to view in paintprograms and such.

I end up with a .bmp file of about 470kb. Btw, you will have all of the units on it too. If you just want the map you should save it as a .mal file, start a new scenario, load the map and then save it as a .bmp to avoid having all those units there.

Oops, guess that's what sP was saying. [;)]

Those .bmp pictures are quite huge files (several hundred MBs for the FitE map i'd guess). It could be your machine simply ran out of RAM, don't know.
Maybe you want to wait until the 3.4 patch as the game then allows eyporting to jpeg. This will result in a far more smaller file.

You weren't real specific here, so I'll go thru it. Start the scenario in hotseat, enable movies in the advanced game options, make units invisible, end the turn. The program then makes two map files, one of them is huge and will take a long time to make. Let the program go until it arrives at the soviet turn, then just close it. Go to the save files and you will see two there, one is an 'M' file the other is a 'U' file. I think the 'M' one is the big huge one, you can delete that one. I usually reboot at that popint so that everything is returned to normal (in case it wasn't). Then you can open the smaller 'U' file in paint. Or, you can have this one:
