Does anyone know if Benny Wahlberg is still active anywhere? I think he did the original Europa map, similar to the one below. I sent him an e-mail, it didn't bounce but I didn't get any response either.

Everytime I look at that map I'm amazed. The amount of time put into it must be huge.

What scale is that map, and where can I get it?

The scale is 20km/hex. I had it saved from several years ago and didn't make a note of where I got it. If you look on Rugged defense, I think some of the scenarios there have it. I'd like to get permission to use it.

I put on my pyramid shaped aluminum foil hat, the one with the copper antennas and got a message from the Universal Grand Singularity. It says you have It's permission to use the map. [&o]

I'm still going to wait awhile to see if Mr. Wahlberg surfaces. If not, I may have to go with the 'unauthorized use' line in the credits. I know the UGS has the final say in all matters, but I'm not sure it holds any weight with Matrix! lol.

My name is Benny Wahlberg. This is probably too late but anyway, yes you can use the map, and yes it did take some time to create it. [:D] The map is based on the maps from an old BoardGame that some of you probably recognise. The Europa Series.
Here is some info on those Boardgames most important is probably that the scale is actually sixteen mile hexes (in the boardgame that is). This brings back some memories from weeks around boardgames, and all the papers to keep track of all the information. The massive stacks of units, the nasty visit from a dog that really enjoyed running over the maps sending us back to start... [:D]
The first game published by Game Designers' Workshop in 1973 was also the first game in the ambitious Europa Series, a comprehensive simulation game history of European World War II. The Europa Series established basic parameters (which included division-level units, two-week turns, and sixteen mile hexes) for a series of games covering the entire theater of war, and then defined campaigns within the theater. Each of these campaigns is an individual game playable by itself, but ultimately mateable with the others in the series-- to allow re-creation of the entire war
I. Drang Nach Osten (DNO), revised and republished as Fire In The East (FITE). The German Invasion of Soviet Russia, June 1941 to March 1942.
II. Unentschieden. (UNT), revised and republished as Scorched Earth (SE). The Eastern Front of World War II, April 1942 to February 1945.
III. Marita -Merkur (MM). The Campaign in the Balkans. November 1940 to June 1941.
IV. Narvik. (NAR). The German Invasion of Norway, April to June 1940.
V. Their Finest Hour (TFH). The Battle of Britain and Operation Sea Lion, July to December 1940.
VI. Western Desert (WD). The Campaign in Egypt and Libya, December 1940 to January 1943.
VII. Case White (CWH). The Invasion of Poland, September 1939.
VIII. Fall of France (FOF). The German Blitzkrieg in France and the Low Countries, June to September 1940.
IX. Near East (NE). Turkey, Iraq, and Iran.
X. Spain and Portugal (S&P). The Iberian Peninsula.
XI. Torch (TOR). The Allied Invasion of North Africa.
XII. Second Front (SF). The Allied Invasion of France.
Best regards

Good for you, Benny! Very good!
Is there a upload resource for the map, or do you have it still?

YAY !! Great to hear from you Mr. Benny! Now I can move forward with plans to hopefully release this scenario with TOAW 3.5. Titled 'Lebensraum', it depicts the European Theater of Operations starting after the fall of France and continuing until Berlin falls or the Allies tire of war. Its Axis Human against the PO Allies only.
A few limits were maxed out in this scenario:
Supply points - each side is allowed 100 of them, and to keep the Axis guessing as to where Allied units might be active, there are Allied supply points scattered all over, especially in coastal areas.
Units - All 2,000 available Allied slots were used. Multiple formations with random chance of entry keep the Axis guessing as to what will happen.
Events - Basic events didn't take up too many, but building in probabilities sucked up all 1,000 events quickly.
Thanks very much to Mr. Benny for graciously allowing the use of his great map. Here's to the future

Divisional units? Either way, if it is half as good as D21, i am exceedingly excited!

Yes, divisions ! With minimal Air and Naval units, and very limited Ant Units, all for greater playability! I love it !

I actually played (sub-sub commander) as a team member (Germans) in a DNO game at a convetion...Aggieland '75). They needed a whole room not just for the map, but all the charts, and room for the army commanders. Europa had a very detailed (for cardboard counters) air warfare system. Still have DNO and UNT (pre-schorched earth). [:)]
