Looks like a great game...some questions:
1. Can you split up/merge units like you could in Advanced Tactics (I'm aware that this isn't AT2)?
2. Will there be an editor, and will it be possible to create scenarios where there is a strategic layer, as in production?
3. Are there World War I scenarios? I saw a screen shot of a gas attack.
4. Is the command structure flexible and simple (I mean this in a good way) as it is in AT? In other words can I build a command structure as in Army Group-Army-Corps-Divsion? Can you freely attach units to HQ's, subordinate other HQ's to HQ's, etc.? This was a fantastic feature in AT, hope we still have it.
Thanks!

As far as I have understood, there will be no editor, or maybe a very limited one. Still waiting for a clear answer on that one over here:

Hi guys,
Yes Widell is right. No editor. And also no to TPMs other questions. This game should not be compared to much to Advanced Tactics. Its a different game altogether. It has very different focus, scope and strengths. Basicly i am trying my luck with a different kind of game this time around.
Best regards,
Vic

Thanks for the reply Victor...I applaud the attempt to try something else...the game looks awesome, can't wait to check it out. Any idea when it will be finished? Thanks!

TPM,
I will answer Your question 3. No there is not any WW1 sce in this game. But actually the britsh was toying with using poison gas at any german invasion attempt.
Good old Winston Churchill was supporting it very strongly so I think it would be correct to have it as a Card.

Typically, if there is no editor or moddability, I don't buy the game. I sure did love Advanced Tactics, though.
Would have bought anything from VR without even thinking about it, but now will have to wait to see what the replay value is like.
I would gladly pay another $25 for an expansion with an editor.
Best to you!

Thanks Ola Berli, I did not know that!

No one has answered this yet, but my fear is there won't be an expansion with an editor, but $25 (or whatever) expansions with other campaigns and/or theaters. I think you'll have to wait for AT2 to get the editor and the flexibility you are looking for. This series looks like an excellent one, but I'll save my personal opinion and buy/no buy decision until someone comments on the how any future campaigns/theaters/scenarios/mods will be provided, if at all.

I guess I need to understand that this isn't AT, and VR wanted to go somewhere else.
Most likely, I will pick it up, unless the price is inordinately high.
AT2! I can't wait.

Plus 1 or 2 smaller ones.

Question regarding U.I.
Any way to reduce or hide the information panel? as the amount of remaining map area looks rather diminished.

Not at present. Interesting idea though. Although with the zoom out function and separate "strategic" map I haven't really missed that function.

Well, i was intereted in this game until read no editor i am a tactical/operational player and find this game more interesting for my taste than AT (i have it but only play 2 times) but no editor... even HPS games have editor to change or do new OOB´s, edit scens but dont do new maps and i think that if you want do more titles this is a good idea because only with 5 main campaigns and very few variants the game is to short in content, maybe an scenario editor could be interesting to made the game more attractive because for example in HPS games without scens creators games could be less atractive and this games have many scens.
PD: i think that the idea is do independent games, not an expansion system like in FoG, is a good and bad option, good because you can buy the campaign that you like or want but is bad if price dont adjust to this and every part are over.... 25 euros

Hexagon - I think the plan is, like you say, to provide this as standalone games, aka "Warsaw to Paris", "North Africa", whole or parts of the Eastern Front and the Pac War. Providing an editor kind of kills that business model, but I agree with you, I probably won't be buying this one (and I will eat that from my AT friends I know [:)]) even if it's a great game just because of that business model. Only one I have in that system is the HTTR, COTA series with the exception of BFTB, and not getting BFTB is related to lack of time to play, rather than anything else.

But I do think the content in this title is quite substantial. The attack on Poland, France/Benelux and Sealion all in one title. And this is Big battles.

If the business model turns out to be what you say, the price of the game will then be the determining factor for me. I won't mind paying for "Warsaw to Paris", "North Africa", "Barbarossa", etc., if each one is about $30-$40...I absolutely love People's Tactics and Advanced Tactics, and the only thing that would keep me from buying this game (as it is advertised now) would be a hug price tag (over $60...even $50 is a stretch for me!).

How long does each scenario take to play? How many turns?
Are all scenarios campaigns and linked?
Are there smaller scenarios representing "battles"?
Thanks

Well, when i buy a game i do my list of pros and cons, i see things like price, content (price/content), mod capacity, edit capacity, interest in the war covered and others, there are many games that i like but finally dont buy it because price is to high and this is for me the first point in a game, then editor is the second because a game with no editor is [:-] usually i use HPS games as base because have a middle price (22-24 euros) have editor (not for maps, the only bad things) and use a model based on independent games and now this is the main business model, the age of expansions at 1/2 of original game with the same or more content is over (FoG have for my taste army packs a little overpriced but is a game that provide to me hours of diversion and can asume this... for now).
To buy this game it need be under 25 euros (25 is even a little high for me but is assumable) because with no editor and more games in the future pay more for it is unacceptable for me [:-]
